NC3 hosted “Building the Community for Community Capital,” a national roundtable, in Burlington, VT on November 8-9, 2018. The event was hosted by the Initiative for Local Capital with support from Milk Money VT, VSECU, and the Vermont Community Loan Fund. Over 45 stakeholders from Vermont, New England, and around the country attended the 1.5 day summit to discuss strategies to grow the community capital movement. Coming out of the roundtable, NC3 has identified a series of strategic priorities for 2019. These include convening a larger subset of the community capital ecosystem in Detroit next June for the ComCap19 conference, holding roundtables in more regions around the country, disseminating investor and entrepreneur education programs, launching communities of practice, and creating a community capital handbook with resources and how-to guides. The event also featured a keynote talk by local economies advocate Judy Wicks, with a Q&A session moderated by Michael Shuman, at Champlain College. Thank you to all those who attended and contributed to the success of this event!
