Since 2012, the Local Investing Resource Center has provided educational resources for investors, businesses, and communities to support investment into local small businesses and nonprofits. In 2019, Capital Innovation Lab acquired the website and, with grant funding from the Investor Protection Trust, transformed the original site into a more user-friendly, resource-rich source of timely and evergreen information to support the burgeoning movement toward community investing. The optimized site was relaunched in April 2020 under a new URL, www.localinvesting.org, and by the end of 2020, an important new section for wealth management advisors was added through a partnership of Capital Innovation Lab and Revalue. In 2021, Capital Innovation Lab transitioned ownership of the site to NC3 for long-term stewardship and development.

Since 2021, NC3 has stewarded the Local Investing Resource Center (LIRC), available at local investing.org. The LIRC is an educational hub to support individual investors, community builders, and investment advisors to build the local investing movement.
In the Local Investor Resource Area, you can find a series of how-to guides and other resources that support investors in the process of finding, evaluating, making, and monitoring investments in local entrepreneurs and small businesses. It is a great place to start if you are brand new to local investing.
The Community Builder Resource Area is for community organizers (nonprofit leaders, economic development professionals, and government officials) and those looking to create aggregated pools of capital for local investing.
The Investment Advisor Resource Area includes videos and guides for advisors to help navigate the conversation about local investing with their clients and compliance departments. Some investment advisors may land here out of their own curiosity or because they are hearing interest from their clients in supporting the local economy.
